Export Policy of Baryte
Export Policy of Baryte
The Government of India, through the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), has amended the export policy for Baryte (Natural Barium Sulphate) on a grade-wise basis under Notification No. 12/2026-27 dated 17 April 2026.
Revised Export Policy for Baryte
- Grade A Baryte (Specific Gravity ≥ 4.2) – Placed under the Restricted category
- Grade B Baryte (Specific Gravity 4.10–4.20) – Placed under the Restricted category
- Grade CDW Baryte (Specific Gravity < 4.0) – Continues under the Free category
DGFT Export Licensing Requirement
Under the revised DGFT export policy:Exporters of Grade A and Grade B baryte must obtain prior authorization/licensing from DGFT before shipment.
These exports will now be governed under the procedures applicable to items categorized as “Restricted” under India’s Foreign Trade Policy.
Grade CDW baryte remains freely exportable, subject to standard export documentation, customs compliance, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Impact of the Notification. This amendment aims to regulate the export of high-grade baryte from India by introducing tighter export controls on premium grades while allowing continued free export of lower-grade CDW baryte.
Exporters, mining companies, mineral traders, and international buyers dealing in natural barium sulphate should review the revised DGFT guidelines carefully to ensure compliance with the latest export regulations.
